How to maintain laminate flooring

Maintaining your laminate flooring is essential to keep it looking like new. Cleaning laminate flooring is easy when you have the right cleaning products and tools. Let us guide you on how to maintain your laminate flooring using HG Laminate Protective Coating and HG Laminate Gloss Cleaner from Teddington Carpet Centre.

What is laminate flooring?

Before we begin, let's understand what laminate flooring is. Laminate flooring is a popular type of flooring made of multi-layer synthetic material that simulates wood or stone. Laminate flooring is an affordable alternative to hardwood flooring, and it is easy to install and maintain.

We only work with the best producers to make sure that your laminate floor looks and feels like a beautiful and tenderly cared-for original. Fully compatible with 21st century life, and complete with comforts like underfloor heating, laminates require none of the extra work associated with reclaimed flooring.

Regular cleaning

The first step in maintaining laminate flooring is to clean it regularly. Regularly sweeping the floor with a soft-bristled broom or vacuuming it with a soft-bristled attachment can help remove dirt, dust, and debris. This will prevent scratches and scuffs on the floor. Avoid using a beater bar or hard-bristled attachment, as they can damage the floor's surface.

To wash your laminate floor, use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. Fill a bucket with warm water and add a few drops of a laminate floor cleaner. We recommend using HG Laminate Gloss Cleaner from our new shop Teddington Carpet Centre. This cleaner is specifically designed to clean laminate floors and will not leave any streaks or residue.

Application: Dip the mop in the cleaning solution, wring it out well, and mop the floor. Avoid using too much water as excess water can damage the floor. Use a dry cloth to wipe any excess water.

Deep cleaning and restoring

To restore the laminate floor shine, use HG Laminate Protective Coating from the Teddington Carpet Centre shop. This coating is easy to apply and will protect your floor from scratches and stains. It also adds a glossy finish to the floor, making it look new and shiny.

Before applying the protective coating, ensure that the floor is clean and dry.

Application: Apply a thin layer of the coating with a clean, damp cloth. Be sure to cover the entire floor evenly. Let the coating dry for at least 30 minutes before walking on the floor.

Laminate flooring tips

If you have candle wax or chewing gum on your laminate flooring, do not use a sharp object to remove it. Instead, use ice to harden the wax or gum and then gently scrape it off with a plastic scraper. Be careful not to scratch the floor.

Clean up spills immediately with a damp cloth to avoid stains on laminate flooring. Do not let spills sit for too long as they can damage the floor's surface. For tough stains, use a laminate floor cleaner and a soft-bristled brush to scrub the area gently.

For areas with heavy foot traffic, use an area rug to protect the floor from scratches and scuffs. Be sure to use a rug with a non-slip pad to prevent it from sliding on the floor. Our special selection of rugs will help you to finish off a room with the perfect homely touch.
